A Single Audit is required for any organization — nonprofit, government entity, or institution of higher education — that expends $750,000 or more in federal awards in a fiscal year. It goes beyond a standard financial statement audit to include a review of your federal program compliance and internal controls over those programs. The audit must be performed by an independent CPA and submitted to the Federal Audit Clearinghouse within the required timeframe.
